Futuristic Dining: The Polyot Restaurant

Julien Albertini and Alina Pimkina's Award-Winning Design

Julien Albertini and Alina Pimkina have created a unique dining experience with their futuristic restaurant, Polyot. This article explores the design inspiration, unique properties, and the challenges faced during the creation of this innovative space.

The Polyot restaurant, designed by Julien Albertini and Alina Pimkina, is a futuristic dining experience that transports guests into a world of new emotions and futuristic vibes. The designers drew inspiration from clear, unusual geometry, streamlined shapes, curved lines, and asymmetrical angles. The entrance is adorned with huge silver Martian goddess-like figures, reminiscent of Hollywood movie decorations about new civilizations. The interior, far from being serious, inspires and gives wings to the imagination.

What sets Polyot apart is its minimalist interior, a departure from the decor-heavy designs common in Moscow restaurants. There are no patterns or ornaments on the walls and in design elements. Instead, large shining objects dominate the space, making it look like the cabin of a space shuttle. The sleek steel shapes and portholes at the entrance further enhance this impression.

The furniture and lighting for the restaurant were custom made for the project. Notable pieces include the Sailormoon chair, V lighting, and Penguin chairs by Asthetique. The silver Martian Goddess figures stand at 3.6 meters each, and the concrete art reaches a height of 6 meters, adding to the otherworldly ambiance.

The restaurant, located at 2 Khodynsky Boulevard, Moscow, was a project that spanned from May 2018 to July 2019. It operates under the guidance of restaurateur Kira Baybakova and is open to guests seeking a unique dining experience. The designers studied many futuristic movements of the 20th century to create the restaurant in the style of "modern futurism". The book "Dune" had a significant influence, inspiring the restaurant's main theme - the feeling of being on another planet.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was overcoming the coldness often associated with futurism projects. The designers' task was to create a "cozy futurism", a challenge they successfully overcame, as evidenced by the restaurant's warm and inviting atmosphere. The Polyot restaurant's unique design has earned it the Platinum A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a recognition of world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs.

The Polyot restaurant is a testament to the creative genius of Julien Albertini and Alina Pimkina. It pushes the boundaries of design and technology, offering a unique dining experience that is both futuristic and cozy. As the designers continue to innovate and create, the world eagerly awaits their next project.
